Itinerary

The Annapurna circuit mountain biking and hiking combination adventure

Green mountains.

The first three days we will mountain bike next to a river as we follow it upstream. The mountains are green and there are many waterfalls. The days will be filled with the nice and rewarding challenge of cycling uphill, and occasionally hiking when the terrain leaves us no other choice, right into the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary.

3000 metres.

On the third day of our adventure we will arrive in Lower Pisang at 3230 metres (10,600ft). The very evening of the third day we will decide together if we move on and get our acclimatization time in Manang at 3540 meters (11,600 ft) or that we enjoy a good rest in Pisang to ensure we avoid altitude related maladies. From Pisang on you feel you're closing in on the Annapurna mountain range and on a clear day you feel like you are only 5 minutes from the soaring and spectacular peaks. Soon you'll forget about the 3 day strenuous approach and you find yourself smiling while mountain biking through breathtaking and beautiful valleys.

Manang.

On the 5th or 6th day of our mountain biking and hiking combination adventure we will arrive at the colorful city of Manang. We will spend at least one night in Manang and properly prepare to push ourselves within limits for another two days to the highest lake in the Himalayas: Tilicho lake at an elevation of 4919 meters (16,000 ft).

Tilichio lake.

To be able to visit Tilicho lake we have to cycle to Siri Khada, but it is mandatory to leave our bicycles at the teahouse where we will spend the night after our visit to the lake. From Siri Khada we are only allowed on foot. We will hike up to Tilicho basecamp at 4200 metres (13,800 ft) on day 7 and spend the night there. The morning of the 8th day we start our hike early at 5:45 am to get to the lake at picture perfect time. After a wonderful visit and a possible refreshing swim in the lake we will be back at basecamp around lunch time. After lunch we hike back to Siri Khada and our bicycles. Along the way you'll notice that the views are slowly changing. You realize and experience the magnificent feel of being at high altitude and being face to face with mind-boggling and massive snowy peaks.

Thorang-la-pass.

It will be a great day on our mountain bike to our last stop at the town of Phedi before the biggest challenge of our adventure: reaching and crossing Throng-la-pass at 5416 metres (17,800 ft) on day 9 and 10 of the Annapurna circuit. Very early at 5:15 am we have to leave Phedi to start and try to reach the top of the pass in time. It will be the toughest day of the circuit but you will, without a doubt, be rewarded with one of the worlds most extraordinary and stunning mountain views on the face of the earth.

Mustang area.

We start our downhill adventure to the town of Ranipauwa where we celebrate on the 11th day of our adventure that we just have been over 5416 meters (17,800 ft) at Throng-la-pass with our mountain bikes and that we have 3 days of only downhill to look toward to. The area is referred to by some as the Grand Canyon of the Himalaya's. The former Kingdom of Mustang is home to your guides' favorite town of Ghasa and it is dotted with tarns, hotsprings and cozy teahouses. On this part of our Circuit Adventure we will take you along a white water river and continuously changing landscapes, fantastic views and spectacular scenery.

Pokhara.

At day 14 we will arrive at Pokhara where our unforgettable circuit adventure ends. The city of Pokhara has a lot to offer and here you can decide to stay and recuperate  or to travel back with us to Kathmandu the same day. Regardless of what you decide on it is a guarantee that you'll find yourself in awe both about your own achievement and the unrivaled beauty offered by this 14 day Adventure Circuit through the wonders of the Annapurna Sanctuary.
